Dr. Naif Al-Mutawa's Keynote Speech on 'The 99'

The symposium just broke for lunch with the keynote talk by Dr. Naif Al-Mutawa (his last name, not his title!) Dr. Naif regaled the audience with fun stories of his student days, and the evolution of the idea of 'The 99'. He showed slides, pictures and even a video endorsement from Barak Obama himself, praising the innovative nature behind the entrepreneurial venture to create Muslim comic characters.

After his talk, Dr Naif showed the latest (unreleased) episode of 'The 99', and announced that this was the first time this was being shown at all.

Khaled Al Maeena, editor in chief of Arab News, later came on stage to engage in a conversation with Dr. Naif. The conversation focused on Dr. Naif's views regarding values, social behaviour, and the need for more  innovation both in educational systems and in systems of thought.
